The Heart is a Drum Machine: Drumming as Therapy

Drumming therapy has potential to be therapeutic in a variety of ways.

We moderns are the last people on the planet to uncover what older cultures have known for thousands of years: The act of drumming contains a therapeutic potential to relax the tense, energize the tired, and soothe the emotionally wounded.

So says Gary Diggins, an Ontario sound therapist.

We use our Drum circles to connect as a group, but also release stress and relax the mind. Disconnecting from the thoughts of everyday life and falling into a rhythm allowing your mind to focus on sound and movement. We like to take things one step further by bringing Drumming into the woodland environment raising the potential to increase well-being and harmonize inner stress.

It has been so amazing to hold a space for drumming in the woods, we have become more connected as a group. Expressing movement, vocals, animal calls literally going wild in nature feels fantastic. Games, Songs and Rhythms all feel that much more real when you can be surrounded by nature. The feeling of being present and engaged with mind, body and soul.
